Tenter Hook – ‘Frank’

My first credited publication. A horror story I wrote last year called ‘Frank’, inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Published in ‘Tenter Hook 2019’, a University of Leeds publication.

The story of a precocious but arrogant teenager, who attempts to bring someone back from the dead with his ‘instruments of reanimation’. These instruments are common household items like a pen knife, needle and thread, etc. It’s fair to say his absurd attempt at resurrection is doomed from the beginning, but his struggle against death becomes a philosophically provocative experience.

A macabre tale, lightened somewhat by dark humour.
